Professional Interests and Specialties

My mission as a therapist is to make a lasting and positive difference in the lives of individuals, couples and families. As humans, we are wired for growth and healing. Together we can create a warm and trusting healing environment, and with the use fresh and traditional approaches understand and resolve your distress.

When we learn to manage and resolve stress and emotional pain (depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, anger, mood swings) in a more productive manner, these changes can increase satisfaction and provide ongoing benefits.

For couples and families, increasing intimacy and connection can result in greater security and satisfaction as well as in improved physical and psychological health over a lifetime.

Therapeutic Approaches:

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) When our close relationships are not going well, repetitive, reactive and self-defeating coping patterns may develop that increase our distress. EFT can help develop healthy self-esteem and reconnect us with our deeper feelings. The process can allow us to create the kind of relationship we want to come home to. Find out more about EFT on the home page.

Mindfulness Based Awareness and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

The way we view and feel about ourselves, others and our world influences our choices and how we act and feel about our lives. Through gentle awareness we can discover and work more actively with difficult feelings, negative patterns, and ways of thinking and coping that have helped to shape and reinforce our distress. Self-acceptance can begin to replace the pervasive sense of hopeless and isolation that often accompanies negative mind traps.

Family of Origin (FO) Therapy

Our original families have tremendous influence over our growth and development. FO therapy examines family history and identifies generational patterns that may affect your current life. Bringing awareness to these patterns and examining how they might play out in your current life can provide you with more choices and allow you to shed some of the limitations of the past.

Trauma and Delayed Stress Recovery Therapies

For those who have experienced trauma or emotional physical or sexual abuse or who suffer from delayed stress or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), I offer trauma resolution therapy. I have advanced training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Braining Spotting, and Meditation and Visualization Processing, all proven techniques that can help to resolve the symptoms of past abuse, trauma and PTSD.
